LineSpeed Flex MSH320 Gearbox with RS-FEC, MSH322 100G Multi-Link
Gearbox, and MSH225 10-Lane Full-Duplex 25G Retimer provide feature
rich, pin-compatible solutions to support the latest Ethernet and
optical MSA standards

introduced its new LineSpeed™
Flex family of 100G PHYs. The PHY devices are designed to support
the latest industry standards, including the Optical Internetworking
Forum (OIF) Multi-Link Gearbox (MLG) 1.0 and 2.0 specifications, IEEE
802.3 clause 91, RS-FEC, and 25G Ethernet. The LineSpeed Flex family is
pin and software compatible and includes gearbox, MLG, and high density
retimer devices designed to enable existing and next generation Ethernet
and OTN line card applications to support the latest high-density
electrical and optical interfaces.
The LineSpeed Flex family of 100G PHYs is designed to support a number
of key line card platform requirements.
1. 100G Gearbox with RS-FEC (MSH320): For adapting 10x10 to 4x25 from
100G optical standards like LR4 or ER4 to a host ASIC, MAC/Framer, NPU
or FPGA with 10x10G interfaces. The MSH320 includes an integrated Clause
91 RS-FEC option to enable systems to also support new electrical and
optical standards such as SR4, CWDM4 and PSM4. The device also includes
a 10x10G retimer to allow seamless support of 10 and 40G interfaces.
2. 10 Lane Full-Duplex Retimer (MSH225): For high density retiming
applications where the line rates may be up to 28G per lane and connect
to host ASIC, framer/OTN, NPU or FPGA equipped with 25G interfaces. Each
one of the 20 total independent lanes can be configured to support 10,
25, 40 or 100G standards. The MSH225 integrates optional 100G RS-FEC
capability and includes a unique redundant link mode feature to support
redundancy, scaling or monitoring features.
3. 100G Multi-Link Gearbox for Line Cards (MSH322): For support of high
density, independent 10GE and 40GE interfaces multiplexed into a 100GE
(4x25G) host interface, the MSH322 multi-link gearbox supports the OIF
MLG 1.0 and 2.0 standard. The device enables line cards with
high-density switches based on 25G interfaces to support two times the
density of 10 and 40G ports. MoSys has also optimized features and
pinouts to support the multi-link gearbox function in module
applications with the previously announced LineSpeed MSH321 device.
