Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. ("Kirkland Lake", or the "Company") (TSX:KGI) provide financial support to the Kirkland & District Hospital Foundation (the "Foundation"), to assess the redevelopment of the Intensive Care Unit and the Diagnostic Imaging Centre.
Kirkland Lake Gold's President & CEO George Ogilvie and Vice President of Operations Chris Stewart were onsite to present a cheque in the amount of $29,000 to members of the hospital and the Foundation today. Mr. Gary Sims, President & CEO of the Kirkland & District Hospital accepted the cheque on behalf of the Foundation. In attendance was Eugene Ivanov, the Foundation Chair, Michelle Lafreniere, Kirkland and District Hospital Board Chair, Guy Boileau, Englehart and District Hospital Board Chair, Mark Spiller Chief of Staff, Dr. Brian McPherson, and Judith Greenwood-Speers, Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Human Resources of Kirkland and District Hospital.
Gary Sims, President and CEO of the Blanche River Health Partners-Kirkland & Englehart and District Hospitals, commented, "We are very pleased to have support from one of the largest employers in the region, in such this important and much needed redevelopment project which will directly benefit the community. The Kirkland and District Hospital is a fully accredited, modern, well-equipped hospital which opened at its current location in October, 1975. It was originally a 132-bed hospital and has been gradually downsized to 62 beds: 6 Intensive Care, 41 Medical/Surgical, and 15 Continuing Complex Care.
