Cintas helps retailers get Ready for the Workday™ to ensure a
successful year
With the past three months comprised of pre and post-holiday prep and
recovery for retail facilities and staff, now is the ideal time for
businesses to get back on track with their facility maintenance and
safety programs. To do so, Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) offers
seven facility maintenance tips to help retailers have a successful year.
“We think of January as retail recovery month,” said John Engel, Senior
Marketing Manager, Cintas. “With post-holiday cleanup and January
recovery finished, both managers and employees are able to focus on
their normal duties, including facility maintenance and safety program
planning. We offer a complete range of services and can help retailers
and other organizations ensure a clean workplace to get Ready for the
Workday.”
Cintas offers seven tips to help retailers experience a successful year:
-
Inspect weekly. Regularly inspect doors, locks, seals, windows
and other glass surfaces such as display cases, for minor glass
cracks. Also inspect fire extinguishers, emergency lights and exit
signs to ensure all systems are working in between service provider
visits.
-
Clean daily. Now that business is back to normal, make sure
employees are sticking to their daily cleaning duties to keep the
store in top condition. Make sure all building repairs are made,
windows and floors are sparkling, staff uniforms are clean and the
store is in pristine condition to project a positive image.
-
Prepare for unexpected weather conditions. Weather conditions
at any time of the year are unpredictable at best, so protect floors –
and customers – with a mat system. In the case of excess moisture,
place mats near entryways to eliminate puddles that can accumulate
throughout the day.
-
Promote Readiness. Stock first-aid cabinets with adequate
supplies to help limit the impact of cuts, bruises and other injuries.
Make sure employees have First Aid/CPR and AED training so they know
what to do in an emergency situation.
-
Stock supplies. From toilet paper to cleaning chemicals, make
sure each store has enough supplies.
-
Preparedness plans. Increase employees’ confidence and
readiness to handle various situations by conducting emergency
simulations. What actions should be taken if there is a heavy storm,
electricity outage or emergency closure?
-
Know who to call. It's five minutes before opening and the
front gate is malfunctioning. Is a plan in place to handle this type
of situation? Limit interruptions such as broken doors or drain
backups by contracting with an emergency service provider who can
resolve issues quickly and minimize the impact of any disruption.
