Pratt & Whitney PurePower® Engines Power Asia's First A320neo for IndiGo

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., March 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- IndiGo's first Airbus A320neo, powered by Pratt & Whitney's PurePower Geared Turbofan™ engines, arrived in India on March 11, making it Asia's first A320neo. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

In 2012, IndiGo placed one of the largest PurePower engine orders in Pratt & Whitney's history to power 150 Airbus A320neo family aircraft and a long-term maintenance agreement.

The PurePower engine family has completed more than 50,000 cycles and 32,000 hours of testing.

IndiGo is India's largest low-cost carrier, as well as the fastest growing carrier in the world according to the Centre for Aviation (CAPA). It operates services linking 34 domestic and five international destinations. Its main base is Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
