Centurion Files NI 43-101 Technical Report - Ana Sofia Project

V.CTN

Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - April 5, 2016) - Centurion Minerals Ltd. (TSXV: CTN) ("Centurion", or the "Company") announces the filing of a Technical Report for the Company's Ana Sofia agricultural gypsum property located in northern Argentina. The report, dated February 3, 2016 and titled "Technical Report on the Ana Sofia Property, Santiago del Estero, Argentina" (the "Report"), was prepared by APEX Geoscience Ltd. and authored by Andrew J. Turner, B.Sc., P.Geol., and was prepared in accordance with NI 43-101 standards of disclosure for mineral projects.

The Ana Sofia project comprises two mining concessions totaling 50 hectares (ha) in size within a larger (approximately 500 ha) exploration permit area. Trenching and sampling work completed by joint venture partner Demetra Minerals Inc. in 2014 identified multiple, high grade, near surface gypsum beds. Small scale producers located in the vicinity are currently extracting agricultural gypsum and selling to fertilizer distributors and farmers. Agricultural gypsum is a valuable plant nutrient and plays a vital role in maintaining soil structure and nutrient balance in South American soils, allowing greater crop yields.

The author of the recently completed Ana Sofia Technical Report visited the Property in September, 2015 and again in March 2016. During the initial site visit, the author was able to examine and sample historical excavations (quarries and stockpiles) at the Ana Sofia 2 mining concession area. At the Ana Sofia 1 mining concession, the author supervised a small excavation program comprising 2 test pits, examined a large previously excavated trench in the northwest corner of the concession area and examined historical quarries immediately adjacent to the Demetra concession to the east and west. In total, 9 rock samples were collected from the concessions and were submitted for analysis at the SEGEMAR laboratory in Buenos Aires, an independent ISO accredited laboratory. In summary, all nine of the author's rock samples returned calculated values >90 wt% (weight percent) CaSO4·2H2O (gypsum). Values ranged between a low of 92.69 wt% and a high of 98.57 wt% gypsum and averaged 95.80 wt% gypsum.

The following are observations and conclusions made by the author of the Report;

  • Based on the extent of the main gypsum layer observed throughout the two mining concession areas and the relatively high purity of the main gypsum layers indicated by the analytical results generated by Demetra and the author, it is estimated that the Ana Sofia 1 and 2 concession areas contain a Potential Exploration Target of between approximately 866,000 tonnes and 1.365 million tonnes with gypsum contents ranging between 90% and 98%. It should be noted that this potential exploration target does not include any of the areas around or between the Ana Sofia 1 and 2 mining leases where Demetra holds Exploration Rights and where there is a significant potential to identify additional gypsum units and/or extensions of the gypsum units observed on the mining concessions.
  • Gypsum-bearing strata of the Guasayán Formation was observed throughout the Ana Sofia Property and surrounding area.
  • At least 1, and possibly 2 to 3, relatively high-purity gypsum layers were observed in all 3 pits (including the NW trench) at the Ana Sofia 1 concession.
  • The high-purity gypsum layers encountered within the 2 test pits completed on the Ana Sofia 1 concession had true thicknesses ranging between 1.0 and 1.5 meters. ("high-purity" is used in this report to denote a lithologic unit with 90 wt% or greater gypsum content)
  • One relatively high-purity gypsum layer was observed along an almost 850 meter long northwest trend through the center of the Ana Sofia 2 concession within an historical quarry area and several cleared areas where overburden had been removed but no quarrying had taken place.
  • The true thickness of the "target" gypsum layer at the Ana Sofia 2 concession ranged from 0.8 m to 1.25 m.
  • Additional gypsum-bearing layers were observed in the Ana Sofia 1 concession, as well as the quarries in the Ana Sofia 2 concession but were not included in the thickness measurements.

At present, there is insufficient exploration data available to allow for the completion of a formal resource estimate at the Property. The goal of future exploration work will be to produce such information.

The report is available to view on www.sedar.com and Centurion's website.
