First Republic Bank Wins National Award For Innovative Financial Literacy Program

FRCB

SAN FRANCISCO, April 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- First Republic Bank (NYSE: FRC), a leading private bank and wealth management company, has been named a winner of the 2016 NASDAQ Innovation In Financial Education Award for a financial literacy program for elementary students across the country.

First Republic's financial education program was launched in December with EverFi, one of the nation's leading education technology firms. The program has been made available to 57 elementary schools in California, Oregon, New York, Massachusetts and Florida.

The NASDAQ award recognizes financial institutions based on a set of criteria that includes the scale and reach of their financial education initiatives, the duration of their commitment, and unique employee volunteering activities that supplement their programs.

"First Republic is honored to have been recognized for its commitment to financial literacy for underserved communities," said Jim Herbert, CEO of First Republic Bank. "We are particularly excited about supporting economic opportunity for a new generation of individuals by delivering financial education beginning at an early age."

The program, Vault-Understanding Money™, is a web-based education program that uses simulations, games and avatars to simplify and bring financial concepts to life. The program certifies students in personal finance topics such as budgeting, saving, responsibility and decision-making, credit and debt, careers, income, and charity.

This is the second time First Republic has been recognized for its financial literacy programs. In March, Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC), one of the city's leading community groups, named First Republic 2015 Corporate Partner of the Year for its work in providing the financial literacy program to at-risk youth in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods in San Francisco.
