CALGARY, May 4, 2016 /CNW/ - RBC today announced a $100,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross in support of Canadians affected by damages and displacement caused by the wildfires near Fort McMurray, Alberta.

"Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by this devastating situation.  Our deepest thanks go to the fire fighters, first responders and volunteers for your heroic efforts and tireless commitment to the safety of the people of Fort McMurray," said Dave McKay, president and CEO, RBC.

"In addition to the financial relief we will be extending to our clients, we are committed to doing what we can to support families and communities in need through this donation." As part of our extensive employee volunteer program, RBC employee volunteers who commit time to helping in the affected areas in Alberta can apply for an RBC Day of Service grant of $1,000 for that community organization.

RBC is also supporting impacted clients with special financial considerations and assistance to help them through this challenging time, including short-term payment deferrals on mortgages, personal loans, home insurance, auto insurance and credit cards. Small business and Commercial clients will also be afforded special accommodation through their RBC account managers.

Clients who are impacted by the wildfires may call 1-800-769-2511 to find information on their local branch or discuss financial needs. Clients can also access their accounts using online and telephone banking, ATMs or at an RBC branch. RBC Insurance clients may call 1-800-769-2526 for any questions related to their policy coverage or claims.
