COPsync and the National Blue Alert Foundation Team Up to Supplement the National Blue Alert System

Blue Alert Foundation to broadcast available officer safety notifications throughout the COPsync Network in addition to the National Blue Alert System

PR Newswire

DALLAS, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- COPsync, Inc. (NASDAQ: COYN), which operates the COPsync Network™, the nation's only system designed to connect law enforcement officers and agencies nationwide, even those thousands of miles apart, to effectively communicate in real-time, and the COPsync911™ threat-alert service for schools, government buildings, hospitals and other potentially at-risk facilities, and the Blue Alert Foundation, developer of the National Blue Alert system, announced an enhanced collaborative effort to promote officer safety.

The National Blue Alert System is intended to be a nationwide notification system reporting assaults on police officers, officers who are missing in the line of duty and credible threats against law enforcement. At this time, there are Blue Alert programs in only 26 states. To help enhance law enforcement officer safety, the Blue Alert Foundation and COPsync are teaming up to supplement the existing Blue Alert systems by providing officer safety alerts in addition to or where there is no Blue Alert system coverage. To this end, future officer safety alerts will be sent through the COPsync system to the thousands of officers using the COPsync real-time information system – directly to them in their patrol cars or to their mobile devices using the COPsync system.

"Our organization is all about communication for the safety of law enforcement personnel, and COPsync represents a perfect way for us to expand the reach of our officer safety communications," commented Tom Berry, Executive Director and Founder of the National Blue Alert Foundation. "We see progress in states adopting Blue Alert systems, but we need to make every effort to speed up the notification process and use real-time communication in these situations where every second counts. We at the Blue Alert Foundation may obtain information prior to it appearing on the Blue Alert System. By disseminating this information through the COPsync Network, we save valuable time in notifying the officer of the threat. Since the beginning of January 2016, there have been 38 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, and we need to use every means available to us to potentially prevent future tragedies from occurring."

"With this supplement to a Blue Alert notification, the thousands of law enforcement officers using the COPsync system will receive the alerts directly in their patrol cars or to their mobile devices," said Ronald A. Woessner, CEO of COPsync. "Moreover, these alerts can also include a photograph of the persons posing the threat to law enforcement. Many officers are killed or injured by persons that are known threats to law enforcement, and we are honored to have the opportunity to help keep our law enforcement officers safer."

About COPsync

COPsync, Inc. (COYN) is a technology company that improves law enforcement communication in a manner that saves officers' lives and helps them prevent and respond more quickly to crime. Officers have instant access to actionable, mission-critical data, share information, and communicate in real-time with other officers and agencies, even those hundreds and thousands of miles away. The COPsync Network™ also eliminates manual processes and increases officer productivity by enabling officers to write electronic tickets, accident reports, DUI forms, arrest forms and incident and offense reports. COPsync's threat-alert system, COPsync911™, enables schools, courts, hospitals, and other potentially at-risk facilities to automatically and silently send emergency alerts directly to local law enforcement officers in their patrol cars during a crisis, thereby speeding first responder response times and saving minutes when seconds count. The company also sells VidTac®, a law enforcement software-driven in-vehicle video system. Visit www.copsync.com and www.copsync911.com for more information.
