Walmart and the Walmart Foundation Announce $250,000 towards West Virginia Flood Relief Efforts
Approximately $150,000 in needed supplies and $100,000 in cash to go to organizations leading the relief
effort
Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have made a commitment to provide support through cash and in-kind donations of $250,000 to
organizations helping with relief efforts for those affected by the floods in West Virginia. Working closely with the Salvation
Army, American Red Cross and Team Rubicon, coordination efforts are being made with elected officials and governmental entities
across the region to meet the needs of those affected by the overwhelming flooding in the West Virginia region this week.
“Part of our daily commitment to customer service includes helping the communities we serve in times of disaster,” said Chris
Rockenstein, Market Manager for Walmart in Charleston, West Virginia. “We try to do everything we can to help our customers and
associates with their needs and will continue to work closely with local officials.”
Walmart has a long history of providing aid in times of disaster by donating emergency supplies, such as food and water, home
and personal products, and by creating ways for associates and community members to locate and help one another. In the last 10
years, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have donated more than $56 million in cash and in-kind donations in response to disaster
events.
