Worst Performing Industries For August 22, 2016

The Dow rose 0.03 percent to 18,557.50, while the NASDAQ composite index gained 0.07 percent to 5,241.98. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.02 percent to 2,184.25.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry slipped 1.9 percent by 12:30 pm. The worst stock within the industry was Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc (NYSE: BBW), which fell 1.9 percent. Build-A-Bear shares have dropped 37.27 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 15.35 percent in the same period.
  • Silver: This industry declined 1.6 percent by 12:30 pm with Endeavour Silver Corp (NYSE: EXK) moving down 6.3 percent. Silver futures fell 2 percent to trade at $18.93 an ounce.
  • Home Furnishing Stores: This industry fell 1.5 percent by 12:30 pm ET. Restoration Hardware Holdings Inc (NYSE: RH) shares dropped 2.1 percent in today's trading. Restoration Hardware shares have dropped 62.65 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 15.35 percent in the same period.
  • Diversified Computer Systems: The industry dropped 1 percent by 12:30 pm. The worst performer in this industry was Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: XPLR), which declined 3.5 percent.
