Worst Performing Industries For August 31, 2016

GDBYF, ATOS, PANW


The Dow fell 0.22 percent to 18,413.96, while the NASDAQ composite index fell 0.19 percent to 5,212.94. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 0.24 percent to 2,170.96.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Computer Peripherals: This industry slipped 2.1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE: DDD), which fell 4.6 percent. 3D Systems’ PEG ratio is 4.12.
  • Consumer Services: This industry declined 1 percent by 11:00 am with Envirostar Inc (NYSE: EVI) moving down 0.6 percent. Envirostar shares have climbed 16.98 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 10.34 percent in the same period.
  • Networking & Communication Devices: This industry fell 0.9 percent by 11:00 am ET. Palo Alto Networks Inc (NYSE: PANW) shares dropped 7.6 percent in today's trading. Palo Alto reported better-than-expected revenue for its fiscal fourth quarter, but issued a weak outlook for the current quarter. The company also announced a $500 million share repurchase plan.
  • Diagnostic Substances: The industry dropped 0.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Atossa Genetics Inc (NASDAQ: ATOS), which declined 29 percent. Atosssa Genetrics priced its 1.15 million share offering at $2.50 per share.
