The Dow fell 0.06 percent 18,856.70, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.27 percent to 5,308.69. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.17 percent to 2,180.73.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Communications Equipment: This industry slipped 4.4 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was ViaSat, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), which fell 5.4 percent. ViaSat shares have climbed 20.06 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 6.17 percent in the same period.
  • Water Utilities: This industry declined 2.4 percent by 11:00 am.
  • Catalog & Mail Order Houses: The industry dropped 2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Wayfair Inc (NYSE: W), which declined 2.7 percent. Wayfair’s PEG ratio is -0.72.
  • Food Wholesale: This industry fell 1 percent by 11:00 am ET. AMCON Distributing Co. (NYSE: DIT) shares dropped 2 percent in today's trading.
