Community Health Systems Announces Divestiture of Two Mississippi Hospitals
Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) announced today that subsidiaries of the Company have completed the sale of their
ownership interest in two Mississippi hospitals and their associated assets to subsidiaries of Curae Health, Inc. Facilities
divested are 95-bed Merit Health Gilmore Memorial in Amory and 112-bed Merit Health Batesville in Batesville. The effective date of
the transaction is May 1, 2017. With the divestiture of the Amory and Batesville hospitals, Community Health Systems affiliates
continue to operate ten hospitals in Mississippi.
Transfer of the lease and associated assets for 181-bed Merit Health Northwest Mississippi in Clarksdale is expected to be
completed during the second quarter.
The hospitals in this transaction are part of the planned hospital divestitures previously discussed. The Company will provide
an update on its divestiture activity on its first quarter 2017 earnings call scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Central time,
12:00 p.m. Eastern time, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
