After the market closed on September 7, 2017, Equifax announced a “cybersecurity incident potentially impacting approximately
143 million U.S. consumers.” The data breach purportedly began in May 2017 and continued until July 29, 2017. The hackers accessed
names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and driver’s license numbers.
It was also reported that three of Equifax’s officers and managers sold stock before the hack was revealed.
As of this writing, Equifax stock is down over $17 per share, or over 12%, since its closing price on September
7th.
