For the centerpiece of the resort, a hand-carved concrete volcano packed with waterslides, CEMEX provided approximately 2,500 cubic meters of sprayed concrete—a special mix of corrosion inhibitor and waterproofing admixture designed to withstand the wear and tear of the structure’s water and fire features. The construction involved spraying concrete at a high velocity onto the mesh and rebar structure of the volcano, which was later meticulously hand-sculpted and painted to give it the appearance of rock.

“To complete this project, we utilized three plants 24 hours a day, seven days a week. One plant ran corrosion inhibitor and waterproofing, while another ran color and a third handled white concrete,” said Keith Stewart, Senior Account Manager for CEMEX in Orlando.

To create the park’s emulated beach walkways, paths, and pool entries, CEMEX supplied over 7,000 cubic meters of tailor-made concrete, mixed with specialty colors including 200 tons of white cement.
