- Existing customers on eligible Business Internet and SmartWiFi 150 and 300 plans will also have their download speeds doubled
to 300 Mbps and 600 Mbps respectively, at no additional charge
- Significant investments into Shaw’s fibre network along with industry-leading technology offers customers the ultra-fast
gigabit speeds they need today
CALGARY, Alberta, March 07, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Shaw Business today announced the launch and availability of Shaw’s fastest
internet speeds, giving business customers access to download speeds up to 1 Gbps.
With gigabit download speeds widely available paired with upload speeds of up to 125 Mbps in select areas, businesses of all
sizes can get the bandwidth they need to future-proof their business and ensure their employees and guests can get the most out of
their network experience.
Shaw Business’ gigabit download speeds will allow customers to work and collaborate online with no lag time or interruptions to
their business. With businesses increasing the use of cloud-based applications, access to gigabit speeds will ensure firms have the
bandwidth they need to help their business grow.
“As businesses of all sizes become more heavily dependent on cloud services, we want to ensure our customers have access to the
network speeds they need to keep up with the demands of their growing business,” said Katherine Emberly, President, Business, Brand
and Communications, Shaw Communications. “Gigabit speeds from Shaw Business will allow customers, their employees and their guests
to have the bandwidth to collaborate, download, and video-conference now and well into the future.”
In addition, beginning today, business customers on eligible Shaw Business Internet and SmartWiFi 150 and 300 plans, will see
their download speeds doubled to 300 Mbps and 600 Mbps, respectively. The moves by Shaw Business come just weeks after Shaw doubled
internet speeds of its most popular internet plans available to consumers.
These speed increases and the launch of 1 Gbps download speeds and up to 125 Mbps upload speeds for business customers is the
result of significant investments made by Shaw to improve the quality and capacity of its fibre network combined with the
introduction of the industry-leading Hitron DOCSIS 3.1 modem.
“As a Canadian trailblazer of high-speed internet, we have never stopped challenging and disrupting the status-quo — we are
relentless in our drive to improve future connectivity for our customers,” said Zoran Stakic, Chief Operating Officer and Chief
Technology Officer, Shaw Communications. “We are leveraging the latest in industry-leading technology across our 1.4 million
kilometre-long fibre network so our customers can have access to strong, reliable and consistent speeds today, with the potential
for even faster multi-gigabit speeds in the future.”
SmartWiFi can be bundled with SmartSecurity and SmartSurveillance — Shaw Business’ managed network security and surveillance
solutions — which can all be easily maintained through one integrated dashboard.
