Inspīr Appoints Alzheimer's Association Chapter CEO Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh as Chief Experience & Memory Care Officer

OHI

Respected Memory Care Specialist to Lead Programs for Prestigious Senior Living Brand

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, March 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Inspīr, an international senior living brand with a flagship residence located in Manhattan's Upper East Side, proudly announces the appointment of Eleonora C. Tornatore-Mikesh as its chief experience and memory care officer. Formerly serving as the CEO of the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh is highly recognized for developing innovative Alzheimer's and dementia programs and brings over two decades of experience to the role.

"Eleonora's extensive experience in gerontology and senior living coupled with her passion and dedication to caring for those with dementia and Alzheimer's made her the obvious choice for this role," said Gregory D. Smith, president and CEO of Inspīr. "The addition of Eleonora to the expert team of highly skilled nurses and physicians ensures our residents receive unmatched care."

Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh is responsible for the oversight of Inspīr's signature all-inclusive Memory Care Program designed for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments requiring a secure and specialized setting. She will draw upon her vast experience and the latest research findings to ensure the Inspīr brand is synonymous with best-in-class care and provides an exceptional experience for residents and their families.

The Inspīr memory care program offers whole-person wellness and life-enrichment opportunities, customized care plans and highly trained staff – all within a therapeutic setting. The program uses evidence-based approaches to help residents at any stage of dementia thrive, and incorporates new technologies to promote safety, brain health, engagement and connectedness.

Prior to joining Inspīr, Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh was the CEO of Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter. During her seven-year tenure at the organization, Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh more than doubled revenue and implemented statewide dementia training for the state of Connecticut and over 140 entities. The Alzheimer's Association selected Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh as one of only three executives nationwide tasked with developing public policy and care and support plans for the organization.

Previously, Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh served as chairperson for the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA). While in the position, she co-created the curriculum and the state course for executive directors and was a representative at CALA for seven years with the Department of Public Health. During that time, Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh sat on a task force to rewrite the regulations for assisted living and for the Institute of Senior Living Education.

Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh was trained post graduate as a gerontologist at Caring Kind, formally known as the Alzheimer's Association of New York City, where she worked as a research associate for two years on a Department of Public Health grant on culture change in nursing homes and assisted living residences. Soon thereafter, she moved to Connecticut where she spent almost 14 years at a premier assisted living community as the executive director and was recognized in 2012 by Connecticut Magazine as an inspirational leader. Ms. Tornatore-Mikesh is a member of the International Association of Woman.
