PW Power Systems' FT8® MOBILEPAC® Unit Delivering Fast, Flexible Results to Upstream Oil & Gas Production

MMV

GLASTONBURY, Conn.

Thirty-megawatt aero-derivative gas turbine provides high reliability and improved emissions while repeatedly demonstrating rapid redeployments in electric fracking application

PW Power Systems (PWPS), a leading OEM of mobile aero-derivative gas turbines, is excited to announce that its FT8® MOBILEPAC® unit has demonstrated outstanding performance since its first mobilization by U.S. Well Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: USWS). USWS provides fully electric, fully mobile well stimulation services powered 100 percent by natural gas resulting in fracturing operations that are quieter, safer, more fuel efficient, and less disruptive to neighboring communities and the environment.

In fall 2018, USWS selected PWPS’ FT8 MOBILEPAC 30-megawatt, aero-derivative gas turbine units to power its patented Clean Fleet® technology. To help meet its customer commitments, USWS requires mobile power generation equipment that can handle the difficult operational profile typical of hydraulic fracturing applications: limited space for equipment; large and sudden changes in power demand; the need for clean and quiet operation; and the ability to demobilize, move to a new site, and be running again quickly with minimal resources.

PWPS delivered its first unit to USWS in late 2018, and it was mobilized to the first well pad in January 2019. Once in place, the MOBILEPAC unit began providing power and met all operational and performance requirements. The unit had no issues satisfying instant and significant load changes between fracking cycles, and noise levels were well below those of equipment previously used for this application. The final test was remobilization of the package to the next site, which was completed in less than 48 hours. Since then, three additional MOBILEPAC units have been deployed by USWS to well pads in Texas and Pennsylvania. The units have operated consistently and completed work on numerous pads through the first half of 2019.

“PWPS’ FT8 MOBILEPAC unit has successfully performed in many difficult power generation applications, but the demands of upstream O&G production may be even more taxing. We are pleased that, once again, our team and equipment rose to the challenge. We are confident with the results to date and look forward to further enhancing the package to address the unique demands of USWS operations. As part of MHPS Americas, we are happy to be an instrumental part of leading a Change In Power,” said Raul Pereda, President and CEO of PWPS.

Joel Broussard, Chief Executive Officer of USWS, noted, “U.S. Well Services Clean Fleet Technology is revolutionizing the pressure pumping industry. Using the MOBILEPAC unit has allowed us to reduce the amount of equipment, complexity, personnel, cost, and mobilization times required to complete jobs for our customers. The successful application of this technology is critical to the growth of our business.”

PWPS has a long legacy of delivering dependable and flexible gas turbine power plants. With a superior design that includes proven features of the successful FT8® SWIFTPAC® package, the FT8 MOBILEPAC gas turbine generator converts natural gas into electricity with high efficiency and is easily and quickly transportable by land, sea, or air. Its unique design enables rapid mobilization and demobilization with minimal crew and equipment.
