Canada’s 1st commercial spaceport receives 1st suborbital payload

Maritime Launch Services (NEO:MAXQ) has made its inaugural launch from Spaceport Nova Scotia, Canada’s first commercial space platform.

This launch was executed in collaboration with VisionCosmos Saudi Arabia’s VCL-1 ChipSat, along with Arbalest Rocketry, a rocketry team from York University in Canada, that delivered the Goose 3 rocket to Maritime Launch for the suborbital launch, and Al NajmX, Precious Payload’s Saudi partner, which took care of mission management.

The compact and light VCL-1 ChipSat, equipped with seven onboard sensors, was launched on Arbalest Rocketry’s Goose 3 rocket. The rocket successfully reached suborbital altitudes.

The team expects valuable insights into space sciences and related engineering coming from this launch. VisionCosmos’ team is working to develop more advanced payloads.

Maritime Launch USA’s President, Robert Feierbach called this an opportunity for international cooperation with Spaceport Nova Scotia’s first suborbital test launch in Canada.

“Having a small payload from Saudi Arabia included on yesterday’s mission demonstrates that we are open for business to the global space community,” Feierbach said in a news release.

Maritime Launch Services is a commercial space company based in Nova Scotia. The company is the owner and operator of Canada’s first commercial launch complex in Nova Scotia, a launch site for satellite delivery for global broadband, near-earth imaging, and other science-related activities.

Maritime Launch Services Inc. opened trading at $0.20 per share.
