Enbridge stock bumps on new leadership appointments

Enbridge (TSX:ENB) stock was up 0.2 per cent in early Friday trading on news of executive leadership changes.

The Calgary-based pipeline operator said in a statement that Reggie Hedgebeth had been appointed executive vice president, external affairs and chief legal officer.

A Harvard Law School grad, he will be accountable for legal services, ethics and compliance, corporate security, public affairs, communications and sustainability and aviation. He most recently served as chief legal officer with Capital Group, and prior to that, he was the executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer for Marathon Oil Corp. (NYSE:MRO). He was also with Spectra Energy Corp. as its general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer, and was vice president of legal for The Home Depot (NYSE:HD).

Laura Buss Sayavedra was appointed senior vice president, projects, and chief administrative officer. She will oversee human resources, real estate and supply chain management along with her current oversight of projects, safety and reliability, environment, land and right-of-way.

A Columbia grad, she previously led the multi-year implementation of Enbridge’s Enterprise Resource Planning system. She served as vice president responsible for treasury and strategy for Spectra Energy Corp. and as chief financial officer of Spectra Energy Partners. Before that, she held various finance, strategy and business development leadership roles with Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK).

Enbridge’s current executive vice president and chief legal officer and executive vice president and chief administrative officer, Bob Rooney and Byron Neiles respectively, will step down from their roles on Dec. 31. These appointments come into effect the next day.

Enbridge is an energy transportation and distribution company that operates through five business segments: Liquids Pipelines, Gas Transmission and Midstream, Gas Distribution and Storage, Renewable Power Generation, and Energy Services.

Enbridge Inc. opened trading at C$44.93 per share and the stock is up 3.4 per cent this week.
