Metallic Minerals (TSXV:MMG) has made one of the best intercepts to date at its Keno Silver project in the Yukon thanks to drill hole FOR23-03.
In a news release, the Vancouver-based company stated its fall 2023 drilling program included 1,112 metres in four diamond drill holes, which focused on the expansion of the Formo target in the West Keno area.
Notably, drill hole FOR23-03 returned grades of 256 g/t silver equivalent recovered over 46 metres and is also the deepest intercept to date on the Formo vein structure.
“We are excited to be able to include these new drill results in our upcoming inaugural resource for the Keno Silver project as these results at Formo continue to demonstrate our ability to build a significant resource base for the project. The resource estimate is expected to be complete in Q1 2024,” Scott Petsel, president of Metallic Minerals, said in a statement.
Other highlights from the 2023 West Keno Exploration program include:
- High-grade silver, lead, zinc and gold mineralization was encountered in all four drill holes, which will be used for a pending NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the project
- The Formo target remains open to further expansion, down-dip and on-trend, and shows potential for new discoveries within the Formo property footprint.
Metallic Minerals acquired the Formo property in 2017, which also includes the historic Formo Mine. The mine has historically produced high-grade silver since the 1930s from high-grade vein structures that graded over 1,000 g/t silver.
The company has also drilled 26 holes for a total of 4,419 metres at the Formo target since 2020. Formo is open to significant expansion down dip and along trend.
Metallic Minerals is focused on copper, silver, gold and other critical minerals in the La Plata mining district in Colorado, and silver and gold in the high-grade Keno Hill and Klondike districts of the Yukon.
Shares of Metallic Minerals are up 9.52 per cent to C$0.34 as of 10:40 am ET.
