Sitka Gold (TSXV:SIG) has officially kickstarted its 15,000-metre diamond drilling program at its RC Gold Project in the Yukon Territory.

In a news release, the Vancouver-based company revealed drilling will take place during the winter and summer this year, focusing on the southern extent of the Blackjack zone. The Blackjack zone is where Sitka Gold previously encountered the highest-grade gold intercepts to date at the project.

The company also stated it will focus on expanding and defining the well-endowed Clear Creek Intrusive Complex area.

“We are very excited to have the drill turning again at our flagship RC Gold Project,” Cor Coe, CEO of Sitka Gold, said in a statement. “This winter drilling program will be primarily focused on the southern extent of the Blackjack zone where we encountered the highest grade gold intercepts on the project to date in hole DDRCCC-23-047, which returned 219.0 m of 1.34 g/t gold including 124.8 m of 2.01 g/t gold and 55.0 m of 3.11 g/t gold.

The RC Gold Project Iincludes a 386-square-kilometre contiguous district-scale land package in the Clear Creek, Big Creek, and Sprague Creek districts in the heart of Yukon’s Tombstone Gold Belt.

Additionally, the project is approximately 100 kilometres east of Dawson City and is accessed via a secondary gravel road from the Klondike Highway. It is also the largest consolidated land package strategically located midway between Victoria Gold’s Eagle Gold Mine.

An initial mineral resource estimate was completed in early 2023, highlighting 1.3 million ounces of gold at the project made up of two deposits: the Blackjack deposit containing 9000,000 ounces of gold at grades of 0.83 g/t gold and the Eiger deposit containing 440,000 ounces of gold at grades of 0.50 g/t gold.

Sitka Gold is a mineral exploration company exploring its flagship RC Gold Project within the Tombstone Gold Belt in the Yukon Territory.

The company is also advancing the Alpha Gold Project in Nevada and has drill permits for its Burro Creek Gold and Silver Project in Arizona and the Coppermine River Project in Nunavut.

Shares of Sitka Gold are down 8.17 per cent to C$0.17 as of 12:20 pm ET.
