The annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) mining convention has now wrapped up for 2018 in Toronto. Thousands of mining investors had the opportunity to connect directly with hundreds of mining executives – as well as gain additional insights from the panels and keynote speakers.
What do mining investors do after PDAC? They come to Stockhouse to share the intel they gained at the conference, and to discuss the significance of what they heard at the show. With that in mind, Buzz on the Bullboards is once again focused on Metals & Mining. For the seven-day period from March 2nd to March 9th, here were the names that were leading the discussions at Stockhouse.
At the top, we have Nemaska Lithium Inc. (TSX: V.NMX, OTCQB: NMKEF, Forum). Not a big surprise here, as NMX has had a strong following at Stockhouse for many months. As its name implies, Nemaska is active in lithium exploration.
Right behind NMX is large-cap miner, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX: IVN, OTCQX: IVPAF, Forum). While Stockhouse investors normally focus more on mining small-caps, IVN also has a loyal following at Stockhouse. The Company is presently in discussions with the government of the DRC regarding its new mining code.
Harte Gold Corp. (TSX: HRT, OTCQB: HRTFF, Forum) is once again high in our Metals & Mining leaders. After the share price dipped at the end of February, it has been moving higher in recent days. Next behind Harte is Novo Resources Corp. (TSX: V.NVO, OTCQB: NSRPF, Forum). NVO is also trending in recent weeks.
Also in our Metals & Mining Leaders this week is Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX: LUC,OTCQB: LUCRF, Forum). This established diamond mining company has drawn increasing attention among mining investors in Stockhouse over the past several weeks. LUC’s share price rose strongly in February on news of an acquisition, and has subsequently given back those gains.
Rounding out our sector leaders in this post-PDAC edition is another Stockhouse mining favorite: Far Resources Ltd. (CSE: FAT, OTCQB: FRRSF, Forum). Attention surrounding FAT has centered on the sad news of the illness and passing of the Company’s Founder and CEO, Keith Anderson.
The recent turbulence in markets has taken a toll on the valuations of some mining companies. The flip-side to this is that some of these companies are now at especially attractive valuations. Finding out where are the best “buying opportunities” is one of the principal reasons why small-cap investors come to Stockhouse.
At the moment, the spotlight is on Metals & Mining. But there are many sectors and thousands of public companies in which the Stockhouse audience has an interest. We will continue to let you know which companies (and sectors) are currently hot at Stockhouse – in Buzz on the Bullboards.
