I am enjoying the Alan Greenspan Q-As in the press this northern hemisphere summer. Our former USA top-banker is talking about animal spirits and his banking legacy.

The more time that passes, the more willing Alan Greenspan is to loosen his tie and level with audiences.

Animal spirits is his reference to behavioral economics. Animal spirits is a phrase that other economists have used -- John M. Keynes for one in a 1936 book.

These spirits help propel herd investing, herd buying of goods, herd hiring of workers. When they turn, such spirits are like those crater-faced creatures in the recent film NOAH. Thrashing and hacking away.

Anyway, as discussed, Dr. Greenspan is touring these days at age 88. He's been on the road now, promoting himself, for 9 months, give or take.

I know a few Chinese investors who can't wait to get their photos snapped with the former Federal Reserve chairman in his lucky-number 88 year.

Now, you too can have your chance. Love the man or not.

[How's that for a promo?]

Here is Brien Lundin's pitch for his New Orleans Investment Conference. I go every year and generally moderate a panel or host a dinner.

Brien is telling the truth when he says the discount promos go fast. They did when folks wanted pics with Sarah Palin. With Ron Paul. (I got the congressman to autograph one of his books, "End The Fed.") They'll go fast for pics with Alan Greenspan.

Now, I plan to have my pic taken with Frank Holmes in the French Quarter at 3 in the morning, wearing Halloween masks of Vladimir Putin -- oh wait, I did that last year! Well, how about with Porter Stansberry rafting the Mississippi River?

Here is Mr. Lundin in his own words. I'll be there, and of course, I always plan to entertain any of our TCR family who decide to attend the three-day event. One year we did stuffed oysters and beer, and Rick Rule showed up and ate most of the baked oysters.

Quite seriously, beloved TCR family, the content of the speakers' list is always very, very good at the New Orleans show. In addition, there are side shows, tours and company get-outs that always provide a new name for my own portfolio. Two years ago it was Cayden Resources (TSX:V.CYD, Stock Forum)(Mexico gold-silver operator). That has been off the charts.

A year ago, as I recall, it was a refresher from Natcore -- the solar-cell developer. Another year back there in the mix, it was Eurasian Minerals (EMXX). If I go back 10 or 12 years, it was Platinum Group Metals (TSX:PTM, Stock Forum). I still own all of these.

This year, I am looking at -- considering -- ForceField Energy (OTC:FNRG, Stock Forum), Dolly Varden Silver and Paramount Gold & Silver (TSX:PZG, Stock Forum). We'll see what the principals have up their sleeves.

One final note, on a less serious but factual note: I have substantiated a far greater percentage of company-sponsored hosted breakfasts, lunches and cocktails, even dinners, at New Orleans than at any other investment event. In addition, Brien Lundin and his team always have on hand plenty of the finest coffee, pastries, snacks and the traditional evening-welcome: a suckling piglet layout with all the trimmings.

I mean, if food is a factor.

Here is Brien:

Hi Thom!

We’re entering the home stretch for this year’s landmark 40th Anniversary New Orleans Conference, and I’m asking for (even more) help in promoting the event to your readers.

I don’t have to tell you how bad the market has been, and how important your help will be (and has been) in promoting this year’s event. I think this is a transition year for the metals market, and we’re going to see the start of the next up-cycle next year. So this fall’s conference will be especially valuable and rewarding for attendees.

?This year’s event will feature Alan Greenspan, Porter Stansberry, Marc Faber, Frank Holmes?and others.?

An endorsed recommendation from our speakers is the most effective method of advertising, which is why we ask all of our speakers to help out in this manner.?

You can begin mentioning and promoting this year’s event at any time, and the sooner the better, as this is the prime time for getting registrants. In fact, if you can fit a first mention into your August publications, it would help to get the momentum started.

Simply use the following link:

https://jeffersoncompanies.com/landing/noic2014?IDPromotion=61401101452000363&IDPromotionsListCode=61407281245008581

This link leads to a special offer: Free Gold Club status (a $189 value), which includes a special opportunity to have a photo taken with Alan Greenspan. Please note that this is, obviously, a very limited opportunity. It's a great chance for your readers to get a photo with Dr. Greenspan and enjoy a lot of other valuable benefits, but it will sell out. So please urge your subscribers to act quickly.
?
I hope you can help us out this year with active and enthusiastic promotion of the New Orleans Conference. We really need it to get people out in these tough times.

?
Thanks,

BrienLundin?
