Silver has been considered the ‘poor man’s gold’ and remarkably it is very versatile and deemed both as a precious and base metal.

Its antimicrobial, non-toxic qualities make it useful in medicine and consumer products. Its high luster and reflectivity make it perfect for jewelry, silverware, and mirrors. Its malleability, which allows it to be flattened into sheets, and ductility, which allows it to be drawn into thin, flexible wire, make it the best choice for numerous industrial applications. Silver has many uses and it is a metal that is in demand. There are not too many companies that specialize in mining silver.
Dolly Varden (TSX,V: DV) released news highlighting that an exploration program has commenced on the Dolly Varden Silver Project. The budget is slated to be a minimum of $3.5 million. The program will consist of approximately 5000 metres of diamond drilling with two-thirds allocated to resource validation and expansion and one-third allocated to reconnaissance drilling on targets beyond the current resource estimates.
According to Dolly Varden, "The current mineral resource estimate at Dolly Varden, effective date Aug. 27, 2015, consists of four deposits with an indicated resource of 3.07 million tonnes grading 321.6 grams per tonne silver for 31.8 million ounces of silver, plus an inferred resource of 900,000 tonnes grading 373.3 grams per tonne silver for 10.8 million ounces of silver. These resources were estimated at a cut-off grade of 150 grams per tonne silver."
"It is an exciting time to start a new diamond drilling program in this historic mining district," said Gary Cope, president and chief executive officer of Dolly Varden.
