NVIDIA Corp. (NDAQ:NVDA; NEO:NVDA) will accelerate quantum computing at national supercomputing centres with the NVIDIA CUDA-Q platform.

NVIDIA stock fell slightly at Friday’s market open but is ending the week more than 5 per cent higher closer to its all-time highs on the NEO and NASDAQ exchanges.

CUDA-Q is an open-source and quantum processing unit (QPU) accelerated supercomputing platform. It is used by most companies around the world deploying QPUs and delivers best-in-class performance.

The brains of quantum computers, QPUs serve as the core of quantum computers, using the unique behaviours of particles such as electrons or photons to perform calculations differently from traditional processors. This capability holds the potential to significantly accelerate specific types of computations.

Nvidia, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, makes chips that are mainly used for training large-language models such as Google’s Gemini, but is now trying to make its hardware more accessible for companies racing to integrate generative AI into their businesses.

Supercomputing sites in Germany, Japan and Poland will use the platform and by integrating quantum computers with supercomputers, CUDA-Q can also enable quantum computing with AI to solve problems such as noisy qubits and develop efficient algorithms.

The tech company also announced this week that nine new supercomputers worldwide are using NVIDIA Grace Hopper Superchips to speed research and discovery from climate and weather to scientific exploration.

NVIDIA Corp. accelerates computing to help solve computational problems. The company has two segments. The computer and networking segment includes its data centre accelerated computing platform, networking, automotive AI cockpit, autonomous driving development agreements and autonomous vehicle solutions, as well as electric vehicle computing platforms, Jetson for robotics and other embedded platforms, along with NVIDIA AI Enterprise and other software and cryptocurrency mining processors. The graphics segment includes GeForce GPUs for gaming and personal computers.

NVIDIA stock (NDAQ:NVDA; NEO:NVDA) opened trading at C$89.20 per share on the NEO Exchange and US$943.69 on the NASDAQ.
