U.S. Government unveils new $100 note

April 2010

The United States Government unveiled a newly designed $100 note today that builds upon years of research in anti-counterfeiting measures. The new bill features two distinct new features that will make it stand out among other US notes.

The blue 3-D Security Ribbon on the front of the new $100note contains images of bells and 100s that move and change from one to the other as you tilt the note. The Bell in the Inkwell on the front of the note is another new security feature. The bell changes color from copper to green when the note is tilted, an effect that makes it seem to appear and disappear within the copper inkwell.

Here’s what the backside of the new $100 will look like.

In an effort to teach people how to tell if the new note is real, the government has released this trailer for the new $100. Check it out below. And if you want to get a closer look at the new note, the government has also set up a dedicated new $100 site where you can learn about the new bill and explore an interactive $100 note.
