I'm a retail ("same day"/swing) trader who trades between 40 and 60 trades a month. I primarily trade from an RSP and secondarily from a TFSA account through a discount broker. I'm convinced the whole marketplace is set up to position the "retail trader" at a disadvantage - Starting with you're very own online discount investing broker! 99% of my stock picks are from the TSX Venture board. I do not make stock recommendations. Those who do, do it out of self interest and prey on others so that they can sell them their stocks in the end and then announce they closed their position. Why else would you tell someone to buy?? As Ayn Rand professed - There is no such thing as altruism. I will on occasion disclose stocks I routinely trade but do not recommend them. Its your job to pick your stocks and develop a trading strategy. My blog includes info on: - Mining and Energy Stocks. - Online trading - Technology - Current events - Books/Music

  • Trading platforms like RBC Direct split your orders.

Things that make you go hmmm...   Trading Platforms like RBC Direct split your orders. Works well for the Online Brokerages as they get multiple trading fees spread amoungst them.   If you are trading on a slow day or near the end of day, your order might not get filled till the next day warranting a second fee even though the last order was big enough to include...

An update to my current status as of May 16, 2013.   A big thank you for all the well wishes to those who have left comments and messaged me. I had a liver transplant June 11, 2012. I was diagnosed with Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC, also called malignant hepatoma). HCC is the most common type of liver cancer. I was given 6 months to live. The only way to beat this was to...

An update to my current status.   A big thank you for all the well wishes to those who have left comments and messaged me. It turned out that I was not having an organ rejection last fall but rather a bile duct stricture. I spent over 20 days at the Toronto General Hospital leading up to and during the holidays. My enzymes were the highest ever, I had a fever and had turned yellow...

A great big thank you to all. I have been making some strides in my trading and hope to soon return to regular penny trade postings.   I just completed my 5th month anniversary since my transplant. For the last couple of months I have been experiencing some sort of organ rejection.  My liver enzymes are skyrocketing which is not healthy. Tests, more tests, and retests ...

Thank you for all the well wishes.       The liver transplant took place June 11 and 13. Had some complications with bile leakage wich necessitated a second operation. I am now at home recovering. The immunosuppressive drugs I am on keep me tired and reduce my ability to stay focussed. The dossage is expected to be reduced over the first 3 months after the...

Back in March of this year my GP recommended I see a liver specialist following a Cat Scan I received after passing a kidney stone. It took some 8 months to get this appointment. 20 days after my 51st birthday I was advised I have cancer of the liver. The immediate biggest hurdle is to qualify me as a liver recipient as my tumor is already too large. The next few weeks...
