RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Myths in the industry & ALP secret weapon to convince Tesla! Please forgive my math if I missed something.  For Canadian deposits Focus is the best followed by Mason however again both of their locations are not close to optimal for graphite mining - just ask Imerys who owns the only commercial scale graphite mine in NA the former Stratmin mine in the same geography.   Asking Jean and Daniel on the board of ALP who were both former Stratmin they told me that location and costs are actually more important than deposit to build an economic mine.

A closer look at Focus feasibility on sedar shows us that they have very high grades, 5% to 20% Cg for core lengths of up to 100 meters.  (pg67)  These numbers put all those other companies to shame which only have a couple small veins measuring only a few centimetres to 1 metre wide.

The real numbers for Focus are on a chart on pg 161 where they have engineered the open pit and we can see the waste to ore ratio.  For the total mine life they will have 7857kt  of ore which will produce 1105kt of concentrate, There will also be 13,903kt of waste and their sulphide content is fairly high which adds cost and enviromental issues.

From numbers above Focus is sitting at 36% ore and 64% waste rock that has to be blasted and removed.

Focus has 15%Cg for that 36% of the pit so overall they have 5.4%Cg for the whole pit.

ALP keeps finding better graphite so once they settle on the best spot I hope they will realistically prove that they have plus 4%Cg for their whole pit.  That one percent difference will easily be made up by cost savings, location and logistics.

Focus probably has the best deposit in North America and if graphite can stay above $1700 tonne or more Focus is economic.  But again it's not just the deposit.  It's the combination of deposit, location, access to capital and cost (Focus has had a very difficult time raising money and is currently operating on fumes).  That's why I'm invested in ALP as combined it still appears to me ALP is the top overall for junior graphite in North America.  If graphite takes off as we expect over the next few years I would envision that both Focus and ALP will be in production.
