RE:RE:RE:Question for Y'allAs a rx drug you have to convince md that the medication had efficacy, this is done with visits, conferences, and journal ads.
as an otc, you have to convince the consumer ( very hard) or pharmacists to recommend the medication.
many family md wait until the specialists use a new medication, then they adopt it.
i have seen this scenario play out numerous times in the pharmacy world
rx then otc
the new antihistamine ( bisantine) , can't remember the name , will also play this way
it will be rx-- as those with plans will want their md to prescribe a drug covered by insurance , and md like to prescribe something the patient cannot buy otc( shows how smart they are),
then the consumer and the pharmacists can determine the efficacy , so when it goes otc it has a ready market
