RE:RE:RE:RE:R.I.P. EUGENE MELNYK

RE:RE:RE:RE:R.I.P. EUGENE MELNYKI'll add something. Melnyk was difficult, Melnyk was frequently unpleasant, Melnyk cared mostly for Melnyk. As a person, I'd rate him no higher than 3 out of 10, based on a couple of charitable contributions, his love for his mother, and his obsessive nature. However, as a Canadian pharmaceutical industry entrepreneur, he was without question the best of his generation or subsequent generations, in terms of wealth creation, and inspiring other entrepreneurs. What I'm about to say will set off the dimbulbs on this board, but there is no comparing Melnyk to Ian or Tom Rossi or Ed Gudaitis. Melnyk was capable of starting and sustaining a good-sized business. Ian, Tom and Ed are only about diminished returns and foggy vision. I never cared for Melnyk in the slightest, but the three individuals I've cited were never fit to shine Melnyk's Italian loafers. Yes, Ian. I'm talking about you.

Not exactly.  My history with Melnyk goes way further back.  I don't expect you to understand but if he had done to you what he did to the company I worked for, and was heavily invested in, you would not be such a fan boy.  What I lost at Acerus was only the icing on the cake.

You talk about people that are totally wrapped up in themselves?  Melnyk was the poster boy.  I have never met a person that so often took a personal dislike to the people he did business with and the viciousness with which he dealt with them.

What happened with Trimel was Ian just giving him a TINY taste of his own medicine.  He was a total a$$ - just ask his wife.  What good did he do?  Keep a loosing team in Canada?  BFD!  I couldn’t give a mouse’s foreskin for hockey.  His philanthropies?  Yeah sure, as long as he got a bargain tax incentive. What rich guy doesn’t have a bunch of charitable endeavours he uses to get tax breaks and win favours with government officials?
