Avf

Oil by rail could go out like the wind when Keystone and Gateway pipelines are approved, or with the first rail car that ends up upside down in a river.  They made the right decision for the future and the future is Light sweet crude.  Embrace it!

I just had my bids filled at 2.60 and can't understand why the negativity on this board. Is there something I'm missing considering I get a 16%  dividend till the merger is done and then a 14% dividend going forward. I get a strong company with a low dividend payout percentage which is very sustainable and more than likely a large gain on equity going forward. Did I miss ...more

People are selling uncertainty.  If the merger goes through, I think we'll do reasonably well, though I haven't got over my anger at the discount selling of ER.  If the merger doesn't go through, we'll be stuck with the same morons who made that deal, and a bunch of shutin gas wells of questionable value.  Do you trust these guys to be wise with the proceeds of sale? ...more

Joe, I agree with you, wholesome,.. I'd like to make a comment here - you have great observations (and knowledge too) on AVF and on the merger too. Makes me think you work in one of those companies, probably AVF. But your postings are very encouraging, instead of all the negativities on this board. Thank you.

Joe, of course we all know that ER is worth much more. That is the gist of the issue here, our dumb management team didn't get anywhere's near what it was worth. The sad thing is that the profits from ER were paying most of the Avenex dividend and ER's profits were growing...  Avenex management were in a rush to join up with these other two companies and seems to have ...more

JReynolds, please tell me what is positive with this merger from an Avenex investor standpoint? To be honest, I can't even think of one? Kherson

Maybe the maintenance of a high dividend? I don't know either what is the true value of ER, but there is no guarantee that the transportation of oil by trains is the industry of the future. Also it wasn't necessarily a bad time to sell ER, since many consider that the differential of oil price can't last forever.

Kherson, I do agree the other shareholders from PCE and CHX will stand to benefit more from this merger, not us, the AVF shareholders. But the AVF management is 'smart'. they sold off ER first before doing the voting process on the merger,... with this divestment of ER, we, AVF shareholders will understand that without the merger, we are going into the ground too. I'm not too sure f ...more

Upon closing, Spyglass will implement a monthly dividend of $0.03 per share with a dividend payout of 35% to 40% of cash flow (approximately $46 million annual dividend) and a target all-in payout ratio (including $80 to $90 million of sustaining capital expenditures) of approximately 100% of cash flow[from the press release] For the third quarter of 2012[ending Sept. 30]: Pace had cash flow of 14 ...more

Great point tulsatea. The numbers just don't seem to add up, do they... In reply to a previous poster and his take on us shareholders agreeing with the merger or else we may be doomed, we were doomed as soon as Avenex agreed to the sale of Elbow River... Kherson

What you are missing:   1) Oil by rail is a very hot segment now and there are very few tradeable assets in that space.  The company took its best asset and sold it way below value.   What they should have done was invest the capex into bringing the facility to full production, then sold it for a high EBITDA multiple to a player like the one who bought it.   That would be ...more

Pone, I totally agree with your post. The only question left for us shareholders is do we vote for or against the merger? Kherson
