Attended Altius earnings call this am (Sept 15 2017)Altius believes the press coverage of Labrador Trough belies a very real and positive outlook for the Trough. They point out the "bifurcation" of "low" vs "high" grade materials and the greater demand for "high" grade material translates into preference for Canadian (Trough) vs Australian materials.
Altius is very active in the other Trough assets and is also a large shareholder of Alderon (Alderon is an Altius spinout). They are however at this point just a shareholder (somewhere around 25% and royalty holder as well). No Board position or insider position.
My question was: "did they have any insight into Kami?" They didn't. I asked about the high cap ex to build mine, they simply stated that numbers have improved due to current postiion of the commodity cycle.
IMO Kami is very expensive next to other and avail opportunities in the Trough, ie Bloom lake etc.
While that bodes well for the Trough, if I'm right that doesn't bode well for Kami, not unitil Kami becomes very economic, ie the demand picture improves greatly, ie price improves greatly.
