That is the point.

The Bayfield property will only be mined by Newgold when the time is right.

By itself the Bayfield property has little value. Part of the value is if Newgold owns these claims it adds to the potential and ease of mining of their bordering claims.

BYV has proven there is gold there. Now it is up to Newgold to decide the value of buying this property verses the loss of ore both on these claims as well as theirs if they do not purchase these claims.

So gnawitall is right. The economics of the situation will dictate the outcome.

In the broader picture I suspect that Newgold will take steps in 2014 to acquire all mineralized properties within the district.

But that is just my opinion.
