The DOJ is really just looking closer here because of anti-competition issues...and that’s because CL is already a dominant player nationally and OH is THE dominant player in the most populated state in America. Another company that doesn’t have a leading position in the US like CL does could certainly acquire them without an issue.
Whether the deal goes through or not, it is concrete proof of just how commanding OH’s dominance in the largest cannabis market in the world truly is.
I want the deal to go through, but it wouldn’t be anywhere near the end of the world if OH is relegated to conducting business on its own until the STATES Act or federal legalization takes place...at which point Big Alcohol or a large Canadian LP comes in and acquires them at a MUCH higher valuation.
