Possible SONA competition?
What do you think?
OraQuick Coronavirus Rapid Antigen Self-Test on track for EUA submission and subsequent launch in the fourth quarter. OraSure is developing a rapid antigen self-test, designed to produce a result for active COVID-19 infection within minutes, with no instrumentation needed to interpret the results and no need to transport samples to a lab for processing, enabling the detection of COVID-19 infection anytime, anywhere. The development of the test is supported by $710,310 of funding from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The test is currently in human clinical testing. Although originally intended for use with oral fluid, this test has been modified to employ an easily and comfortably self-collected lower nostril sample in order to achieve the best possible accuracy. The Company fully expects to meet or exceed applicable FDA performance requirements, with EUA filing and subsequent commercial launch in the fourth quarter, pending regulatory approvals. To date, there are no COVID-19 tests for active infection which provide a result at the point of collection with no need for a diagnostic instrument to interpret the result.

Nope, during the FDA Townhall today they stated that saliva tests are "an incredibly challenging substrate" and they have already denied some because of performance. "Many have given up because it was too tough".

But it states "self-collected lower nostril sample"

saliva based tests are difficult...avacta is trying to produce one and poor results, I believe sona is trying to do a 2.0 version and may be the only successful candidate because of its gold nanorods

what technology are they using to detect the virus via antigen? They have a long way to go...sonas test was in development for 10 years with gold nanorods...we welcome more test at point of care because Sona cannot keep 3uou with demand but they have ways to go...

There are only 2 Covid 19 antigen tests with FDA approval. So I have no clue what you are talking about?

Thanks Beerzerker, you sound like you know this subject. Your last two paragraphs are well worth reading. Where do you think Sona is relative to the competition in POC antigen testing?

CE is a manufacturing standard. Let's revisit this subjet when ANY of these companies you are referencing are FDA certified. Next

Hey datawork, so I think Abbott has FDA now... Do you want still want to talk about data? Seems Sona didn't have much to share today.

sonas time will come shortly as the best and only antigen point of care test...did you just read the Abbott headline also?

Abbott is a point of care test? Fact check A) Abbott only works after 7 days of showing symtoms B) requires a prescription C) then a clia lab This doesn't contain the spread of the virus, this tells you that you already infected everyone, stay home for a few more days and take some vitamin c

Abbott went under the CLIA route and sona is not. Different EUA streams with ours being more rigorous

Proof that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing... CLIA lab or administed by a health care professional. Picture this: A couple of nurses checking all the kids as they go into their American school... Labor day is in 9 days. Sona better have something by then. Anyhow, good night yall. It's been interesting watching Sona and talking with all the fans.
