Mr. Jaison Dolvane reports

ESPIAL AND ARRIS COLLABORATE TO DELIVER NEXT-GEN VIDEO SOLUTIONS TO SERVICE PROVIDERS

Espial Group Inc. has entered a software licence and distribution agreement with ARRIS International PLC to integrate and resell Espial's product portfolio, further extending ARRIS's expansive portfolio of IP video solutions for global service providers.

As part of the agreement, Espial and ARRIS will jointly deliver end-to-end, next-gen IP Video solutions to new and existing customers. The agreement broadens ARRIS's reseller portfolio to now incorporate Espial's popular software-based products and services, integrating them with ARRIS's RDK-based set-tops and other IP video solutions. The resulting combination will offer Service Providers another comprehensive solution set to address the Next-Generation IP Video market.

The Espial software-based products and services included in the agreement include:

-Espial G4 STB Client software and UX (RDK-based) -Espial Media Service Platform Cloud back-office software -Espial Whole Home Solution hosted video solution (acquisition recently announced) -Espial G4 HTML5 UX as integrated with ActiveVideo for legacy set-tops

The companies also will work together on joint integration and co-marketing activities.

The agreement builds upon a successful history of collaboration between the two companies, including Espial's recent acquisition of the Whole Home Solution platform from ARRIS. This year, the two companies also came together to power the launch of Europe's first RDK-based 4K video service, by Portugal's NOS, combining Espial's G4 STB Client software and ARRIS's 4K Hybrid ZD4500 set-top.

"Service providers need complete solutions and trusted partners to help them launch a new generation of IP video services to their subscribers," said Jaison Dolvane, CEO, Espial. "Leveraging ARRIS's global services, distribution, and support teams will expand Espial's footprint worldwide. We look forward to collaborating with ARRIS on both software and hardware roadmaps to accelerate new service velocity and innovation for video service providers going forward."

Industry Analyst Quote

"With video competition from the Web/OTT mounting, Pay TV operators are shifting to IP, HTML, and open-source software to enable rapid innovation cycles," according to Tom Morrod, senior director of TV and broadcast technology, IHS Markit.
