RE:RE:RE:Aurora's made biggest strategic mistake of all PlayersNot that I disagree with you sentimentally (huge Hip fan here) but the economic benefits of the 'brand' - I just don't see it more than a "niche".
Regarding overall brand power and Aurora's potential, there's probably points for debate there, but I think it's easy enough to say that for companies like Aurora and Canopy their size and reputation alone will be significant "brand" drivers. Remember that this is going to be an industry with tight government regulations, not indicative of a free-wheeling open capitalist industry.
Cautious consumers and "newbies" to the game will want something that they feel like they can trust. A flashy brand isn't necessarily going to do that for them. They'll likely look to the big players that are in good favour with governments with product that is widely available (and thus widely scrutinized). That's my 2c at least.

I don't think the value is in a music group. It is a "Canadian" group that spent the last year speaking up about cancer, medical uses of marijuana, and other Canadian issues such as First Nations that bring us all together. It is about a group that is directly tied to a friendship with the sitting Prime Minister. There are so many leg up opportunities here that quickly turn short term benefits into medium term stability.
