White or Dark Knight?

Anyone think Canopy or Aphria would wade into the battle? Throw out a higher offer, forces ACB to pay more for CMED thereby weakening your competitor for the longer term with dilution or forcing use of cash. Or potentially get CMED as part of their consolidation of the sector. Again I had heard they had tried to make calls to CMED earlier in the year, but I guess the phone system isn't that reliable in SK...

Here's what I suspect. If the ACB aquistion doesn't go through, the SP will tank in March. CMED saddled with HIP is not a good synergy or strategy.

CMED as demonstrated a propensity to “go it on their own”. If in fact APH and WEED approached them earlier they won’t come back.  I also think ACB will not drag this out any longer than March 2018.  No company in the sector right now needs that kind of distraction.  A long and detracted takeover will only occupy important recourses that can be better utilized on other projects.  ...more

Why exactly will cmed stock tank.....id like to know why. The market cap is puny right now....and your trying to sell a collapse....I think a lot of smart eyes have been awakened to the undervalued situation and that will prevent any collapse....as a matter of fact the stock price could soar without acb

Part of my accretion is an agreement with what Battley said, CMED was first in the sector and most valued MJ holding, now they are barely in the top 10. Their EPS are not getting any better over the last few quarters compared to their peers, (ACB, WEED and APH). Their ability to raise capital will be severely impaired if the takeover fails, as the big money will (and has been moving) to companies ...more

you just explained the difference between value investing and hot stock investing. I prefer value hence my position in Cmed. Value plays take longer to increase shareholder returns and hot stock can cause share price to increase rapidly, unfortunately the also decrese just as rapidly. I’m looking out 24 months so hot stock doesn’t do it for me. Value always wins.....so by all means play hot stock ...more

I agree with you regarding value investing, fundamentals are paramount. Personally I cannot see a value positions in this sector anywhere.  The sector is too new and there just is not enough history yet to value a company with pier comparisons (remember the sectors biggest competitor is the underground illegal market place and they don’t have auditors or shareholders to answer to).  This ...more

Conversely, APH may approach ACB and start talks on a merger, that my friends would be, block buster news, right up there with WEED and Constellation  That the thing in the sector, anything is possible right now.
