MAE VS. RCG

Last year Anaconda offered Mae 16 cents per share. Are they a better property then Dufferin? Seems Rcg has 3 properties and Mae 2 and no mill. What can Anaconda offer now?

MAE had a 7c book value at the time. The offer was over 2x book value. The offer was for Anaconda shares .. equivalent cash value was given. Anaconda's offer was 1.2x RCG's balance sheet which includes tax credits. alternatively expressed as .. 25c offer for a 6.8c june 2018 book value or 3.7x book value (harder to understand) I think an offer for the balance sheet is appropriate ...more

The rationale behind ANX's attempted take over of MAE was the mill that ANX has already has permitted with 14 years of tailings capacity left.  MAE has the ore and ANX has the mill so to speak.

MAE has the ore and ANX has the mill is a good summary of the rationale as I understood it. I was struck by the offer which was so many shares for so many shares. That part made sense. But it was explained as a 20dma or something like that of the stock price - as though that was meaningful. The market could have been biased to optimism or pessimism or worse. I thought they should have made a ...more
