What are the chances ?

What are the chances that really low financing will occur for Geologix when a company like Capstone (with its assets, balance sheet & positive cash flow) threw in the towel last week?  I wonder how low of a financing deal is being sought by Geologix?

Capstone Mining cancels $300-million (U.S.) offering

2014-09-12 09:07 ET - News Release

Mr. Darren Pylot reports

CAPSTONE MINING DISCONTINUES PLANNED OFFERING OF $300 MILLION SENIOR NOTES

Due to general market conditions, Capstone Mining Corp. is discontinuing its previously announced offering of $300-million senior notes due in 2022. All amounts are in United States dollar unless otherwise specified.

"The notes offering was intended to opportunistically repay borrowings under our existing credit facilities," said Darren Pylot, president and chief executive officer of Capstone. "While the $300-million we were looking to raise was available, the proposed interest rate exceeded what we were prepared to pay for that purpose.

"We currently have very low-cost credit facilities, which, when combined with our strong cash position, strong cash flow from operations and the undrawn portion of our existing credit facilities, give us the flexibility to only consider financing opportunities that are aligned with our cost of capital criteria," continued Mr. Pylot.

The new $300-million senior secured revolving credit facility, which was intended to close concurrently with the notes, has also been discontinued. Capstone's existing $200-million senior secured corporate revolving term facility and $200-million senior secured reducing revolving corporate credit facility mature in October, 2017, and January, 2016, respectively. Both have an interest rate of U.S. London interbank offered rate plus 2.5 per cent (adjustable in certain circumstances) and a standby fee of 0.56 per cent on the undrawn balance of the facilities.

The fact that our fearless leader turned down an offer last year in favor of preserving his paycheck doesn't seem to wise at the moment does it?  The strategy of hope - hoping something turns sector wide is becoming the sole thesis for owning these penny stocks. Zad

My view is quite the opposite. I´m very proud as a shareholder that managment are not tricked into accepting some low-ball offer. They know that GIX´s valuation compared to its peers and its resource are absurd. They have showed strength in a time of carnage in this sector, hats off for that. History has shown us time after time that big gains and riches are created when buying then ...more

And what happens when there is no money left to cash the cheque?  Issue stock at 5 cents and dilute us to the moon?  Is that good mgmt too?  Living in the world of what you think we should be worth vs reality of the market doesn't always work out.  Maybe it will but if it does, you do realize it will be more about luck than anything else right? If it wasn't luck and ...more

I still believe that mgmt. will do it´s utmost to increase value. I would personally rather see this fail than accepting crumbles. The problems here are not unique to GIX. The whole sector is on life-support and there´s gonna be casualties. The forces that hate everything gold-related are so strong at this point here in the West and the whole game is a ponzi-scheme that will, some day ...more

If you describe owning this stock as hunky dory and suggest that being stubborn and taking zero is better than getting back at least some of your investment - then you need councilling.

Sometimes the ultimate price is better than humiliation. My tenacity is created over some time and I know any shrink will fail in trying to "cure" me:) But hey, lets agree to disagree. Hopefully this all plays out well for both of us.

On that my friend, we can agree.  Hopefully that big fat head and shoulders bottom thats developing so plainly on the chart plays out and we can all contemplate what 10-12 cents means instead of 6 cents.  Im still somewhat choked with who is on the BOD here that they can't get something in place.  Not only are we looking at this price but we lose years of time in the ...more

Gold is taking it on the chin again today. Ouch! I have about 20 or so long term investments in miners and it hasn't been a pleasant few months. I have learned over the last many years that turns occur when bulletin boards start to get noisy, like what is happening here. Junior miners are very long term investments. If you can't take the heat, get into the large caps and make your pennies ...more
