For now

Instead of speculating on what is going let's wait until the halt is over.   They have stated they are working on big things.  They have not stated they're going private.  They are going away from being miners to processors of high value graphite.  That is what we know and we should be patient until we hear more instead of stressing about worst case scenarios.

personally I believe we are going to be quite happy after this halt is lifted. Why the doom & gloom scenarios ? Looks like GLK is moving in a planned direction to become a bona-fide player to the specialized graphite market. All the recent collaborations with specialty graphite companies are going to become a new reality for this company going forward. All of those connections are experts in ...more

Exactly floridas one negative outburst started all this moron dialog ,if going private was were it's at maybe Microsoft google etc should do it nah not a lot of wealth going private it's all about the shares managers get compensated usually with free shares ,look at hunter harrison ,lee iacoco just a few, performance bonuses, wages,so they work hard we as shareholders want these guys ...more

For what it is worth my take is that this halt all ties in with Novocarbon and this is the vehicle created for the new mega factory. They need plenty of new funding and a new company is one way to do it. After all GLK is little more than a processing middle man with a court case and grants to repay hanging over it and have little to bring to this party. What I can't work out is how GLK ...more

Happy Easter everyone!! Bullmoose you are correct, going private doesn't make sense.  They lose the ability to raise cash now and in the future.  It will only make sense for someone who is loaded with money.  It's the way they're restructuring and nothing more.  We will know more later. Bueboy you have an interesting theory.  I think it's a bit different ...more

Hard to see how GLK having 3 of it's top people owning a new startup private company in the same business will be any benefit to Great Lakes.
Comment by Floridas2000 on Apr 02, 2018 1:42pm
When you re-structure you can do many things.  Did you know that GLK had an innovation division a few years back.  Some mining companies create sub-companies in the country they are mining.  Or maybe have a sub-company under their main company that focus on certain details. When  you do that you have to set-up a management structure.   Most likely Novocarbon will focus on ...more

Interesting!!!

A private company could be owned by GLK but could be owned by GLK's principals only which might leave us (current shareholders of GLK) in the cold.  What does GLK have as assets to transfer to a new company?  Why would they (GLK management) include us in a new company?  This is interesting.  Iamburt2 has a point.
Comment by Floridas2000 on Apr 02, 2018 4:46pm
That doesn't make any sense though.  What would be the benefit of going private?  I have owned companies that were bought by another company where the bought companey specialized in x.  They acted as an independent unit dealing with everything related to x including the management. The question is why set-up this structure?  No idea but there are options.  GLK was a ...more

Just looking for something positive here. The only thing we really have is that apparently Paul Ferguson has said the best has yet to come and I am sure he wouldn't BS us. (?)
Comment by OrsonModesto on Apr 02, 2018 5:39pm
As the one who started the conversation related to going private, I will briefly clarify a little more on my original thinking. GLK (and the graphite space in general) has had a pretty tough time getting out of the chutes, especially from a capital raising standpoint. After GLK brought in Todd Jorn and Brett Clark, co-founders of a merchant bank, it first appeared to me that GLK had found a source ...more

Anyone can bs you.  Zuckerber can.  Musk can.  Chen Can.  Paul F. is a good guy but I look at more the NRs to determine the best is yet to come.  If all his NRs are fake and Ashland can't purify a high quantity of graphite, they are not selling their graphite at the graphene supermarket, these orders for graphite are lies then yeah, etc.  - then yeah he would be ...more

I take it as it is written. Venture exchange is not a license to lie. I look for better days ahead.
