The Greed Factor

Gold has closed in what I call "The Greed Factor", zone. Greed is pushing fear to the sidelines, what would you rather see than greed, if you are an investor in precious metal equities.

Well, well the inflation rate is continuing to go higher. Good for gold. PCE was 4.2%, CPI at 5% and wholesale above 7%. If you listened to Powell yesterday he beginning to hedge on his definition of how he definites inflation. In his speech he has moved from saying that inflation is transitory to I beleive it is transitory. As well, the Consumer Sentiment index is dropping. I'm looking for ...more

I have done a fair bit of reading and there is one thing (lots of things) that I dont understand. If the Fed raises rates why do bond rates go down? Im talking about Treasury bonds. I know they are different than savings bonds. But still they should sort of work the same in the interest rate yes/no?

So when you buy a 10 year bond in Canada its untouchable for 10 years. If you buy a 10 year treasury bond in the US at 1.25% and a month later the rate on a 10 year goes to 1.4% can you cash that out and re-buy at 1.4%. ? Thankyou CFP2002

What makes you think the CAD is untouchable? Yeah you can sell the 1.25% at a loss cause who wants a 1.25% bond if the market rate is 1.4%.

the asks are getting bigger as people are seemingly giving up on this stock and one might ask "who blames them"

I thought in Canada you had to wait for the maturity date before you can cash it. If not there is a penalty.

Right on... North America in general is in a mess right now. Drought & fires up and down on the North American west coast. Floods in Tenessee,& Carolinas, etc. Huricane Ida to hit the greater New Orleans area today with speculation that it may be a repeat of Katrina some 16 years ago.. if so,what a mess that will be. Factor in the Covid (Delta) variant's ongoing impact on health care ...more
