Yah but they are just selling shares they just picked up from warrants/etc at 17/34/65 cents.  Why not sell some.  Free money to them.

Christ - we've been through those insider trades before - please stop missleading the public! - management increased their exposure through the option exercises - the math is pretty simple.   And last I checked - depending on income levels - dividends can be taxed lower than gains - maybe you're lucky and at the highest rate in Ontario you're paying 29% on dividends and 23% on net ...more

 Watch22, you might want to brush up on income tax rates. A good place to start is at the CRA website. Keep in mind that you only claim half of a capital gain... Kherson

Kherson, what are you talking about? the effective rate for an Ontario resident with income of $132,000 to $500,000 is - dividends - 29.54% (assuming they're 'elligible') - capital gains - 23.30% (that's right - half the marginal income rate of 46.41%)   These are 2012 rates, with the effective rate on dividends up slightly from 2011.   Please let me know where I'm ...more

 Yes watch22, you are absolutely correct under the circumstances that you have alluded to. But throw into the mix the idea that the capital gain or dividend was say inside an RRSP and you now decide to withdrawn it. Now, what would the effective tax rate be?  It is next to impossible to put an effective tax rate on any investment income without first knowing the person's overall ...more
