Roadking, I believe it is still an "unofficial" contest, but I must be first for this one too!

$2.12

Though it is not in my habit to start a buyout sweeptakes drinking coffee but the buying and espesially the capping today leaves no choice but to start at a moment that I can remember the next day. Will take guesses until Sunday midnight November 10 or when offer is announced, which ever comes first. Let the bids begin.....good luck top with the 2.12 bid, if that happens it just might be ...more

In what can only be described as "the triumph of Hope over Experience", I will enter the contest with a guess of $2.20. :)

it would be a lot more interesting if Chet would enter sweepstakes. Then I could start another one for the buyout date and let him join that one too. Kind of sick of buying round trips every month...one way ticket as soon as I tender this mother. I know some like cold and the snow but for me it is just a freezer full of white sheet.  Desperado with a scarf knitted by ...more

If the acquiring company buys with stock it usually goes down and will cause OLE to go down as well.  Obviously as far as OLE from a much higher level than today. Hence, the only way to ge an accurate winning bid for RK's prize is using the previous days closing price and using that as a basis.  For example if TGZ offers .75 shares of TGZ for every OLE share and TGZ ...more

Good point Tony, did not think of that....closing price for both involve parties it is if were the case. only 5 bids so far for Aruba, either readers like the cold or waiting for next Sunday deadline to put in bid. There was a bid for 286,000 shares at 0.76 this week and saw another for 106,000 shares at 0.75 on Friday which lights me up like a artificial Christmas tree.  Don't ...more

I hear what you are saying tony... but that is not the way it works. In a buyout, the purchaser must offer a set price... then the structure of how that price is paid out...via % stock offer & % cash... is then stated.  If the offering company's stock price drops, they have to poney up more cash or more shares to hit the agreed price. Has to happen this way for GAAP ...more

I totally agree with you Hoosier.  If they pay lets say $280 million for the public portion of OLE then they (the acquirer) is responsible for the $280 million no matter what the stock does after it starts trading.

I'll be the downer and call out $1.35 as the buyout price, just so that warrants get a small bit of money.

Is this going to be like The Price is Right?  If you over bid you are out? Or closest to the bid over or under wins?
Comment by Roro1 on Nov 05, 2012 8:25pm
I'm going out on a limb bere...I say $2.75.  Blue sky will make a comeback.  Maybe we go higher...that is, if we don't  run out of money first.....

Contest resembles much more a game of horseshoes than Price Is Right. For once being close counts. The 1.35 bid from cap makes me choke and spit out some directly on screen, cause I had been predicting 1.32 in September. Not greedy, I like that. Should have enough dry powder to add 15000 shares tomorrow after selling some dogs for capital loss, Been way too long since I did not see ...more
