Brookfield finally figured out that they would be better off

being paid out in Declared Special Dividends rather than selling off their positions in 5 million share tranches! Good for them! If they wanted to sell their 85% position in the whole company they could easily sell it to a company like American Barrick for $2 Billion. Right now they may just as well receive the special dividends which PDL hauls in record amounts of cash with the high price of palladium. The 45 cents for Shareholders of record September first are receiving a 3.18% rate for just this quarter based on today's closing price! GLTA PDL Longs

yes special dividend is their best option to get cash without selling shares. selling shares is like shooting themselves in the foot by driving their own shares down. news release says a 10 cent divi is sustainable with $1200 pd price. since pd is over $1400, it looks like we are going to get special divis every quarter as long as pd stays up!

the first special dividend occured sooner than I thought. Makes sense as Brookfield likely has better things to do with the money.
