The new government cancelled multiple licences around that time, allegations of bribes, a businessman killed, and in other similar situations where countries have unjustly taken away mineral rights from companies, the countries have been forced to pay bigtime. PAW spent tens of millions on this project and followed the rules, only to have the licence taken away with no recourse? Where does this kind of thing happen? The lawyers for PAW are working on their own dime, and will only be paid if there's a settlement, would they take this risk if they didn't think there was a great chance of winning? Would PAW executives have bothered to put in all the time and effort forcing this tribunal hearing if they knew they were in the wrong? Nothing is for certain but if justice prevails PAW will win.
