MM Flashing Bid Ask Trade

Has anyone noticed how the MM keeps flashing the Bid - Ask? Also, the last traded price don't always reflect the actual last trade.

The bid and ask price of the stock. The MM stands for market makers.

ok, I know those terms, but I'm talking about 'flashing'...what does that mean? normally for example the bid is 1.58 and ask is 1.59...and each has it's own board lot of what volume buyers want, and same on for the ask. What do you actually notice is going on...and how do you preceive this as positive or negative?

Many times during the day for example, a bid at 1.20 and qty of 10500 would show for less than a second and then a bid at 1.18 for qty of 200 shares would flash for a second or two and then back to 1.20/10500. There were other combinations flashing throughout the day. I view this as a good thing as a long. It keeps the day traders on their toes. I bought shares several times today at the ask and ...more

There has been a market maker in the warrants for a few months. I first observed it when they rose above $0.70. The mm usually buys 5k and 10k lots at a trailing $0.02 to $0.03 price to the intrinsic value. I observed the same size bids at that same trailing discount at least 10-20 trading days that I watched for it. The bids move frequently to continue to trail the stock price at the $0.02 to $0 ...more
