PDAC re: SND

i also attended PDAC last week (just caught up on board postings now), watched NW's investor presentation, and spoke with NW for 10 mins outside the Sandstorm booth.  the only item worth adding beyond maypeters' detailed summary is that NW emphasized going forward SND will target large-scale, low cost producing mines.  Music to SND shareholder ears.  The track record with Ter, NDX, Royal (ie single resource juniors breathing  SND funds) resonated with mgmt and they have adjusted accordingly.  NW was very positive about the prospects for both Donner and Colossus and SND future.

on a side note, the Mongolian gov't did have a booth staffed by two seemingly unilingual representatives focussed on their iphones and handing out brochures.  there was an offsite GOM (including a mining minister) 'official' all-day private meet & greet at the Hyaat on Tues 5th, so the GOM essentially sidestepped direct public exposure but maintained a presence.  Reps in the Entree booth said ETG viewed itself merely as collateral damage while heavies GOM and Rio negotiate next steps.  ETG had written to the mining authorities requesting clarification of their license status and had not received a response.  in summary, the sentiment was that pre-election posturing was an unfortunate but not unprecedented hiccup in GOM relations with FDI partners and resolution is expected.

Thanks for your perspective. One question SND will target large-scale, low cost producing mines. Generally the sandstorms provide cash to get mines into production vs ones that are in production. Can't imagine they would get great terms doing a deal with a mine that is already producing. Did he provide any further clairity?

gwalker-  to clarify, NW did not say they would exclusively target producing mines.  emphasis was on the low cost aspect, not the notion of producing vs not producing.  for a producing mine it would likely be a matter of identifying a byproduct stream opportunity eg a silver mine producing some zinc or gold mine producing some copper with ...more
