The most recent Swiss trade data show no signs of a late-2012 pickup in Russian palladium shipments, at least not yet, says Barclays Capital. Analysts track the Swiss data for clues on Russian shipments, with Russia thought to be nearing the end of its state palladium stockpiles. November data show Switzerland remains a net importer of palladium and platinum for two and three months, respectively, Barclays says. Swiss palladium imports fell 57% month-on-month to around 26,000 ounces, with Russian shipments continuing their pace of around 6,400 per month. “Russian shipments so far this year have reached 148koz, 72% lower than this time last year and similarly low compared with 2009 and 2010,” Barclays says.
